LIFE BEYOND CORONA WITH SAVRAM FOUNDATION

In the last year, the world is faced with an unprecedented crisis, the nature of which it has not seen in the last century. Across the world, all nations, all humanity has been severely impacted by the outburst of pandemic “Covid 19”. Even the resources of the countries known for being superpowers, leaders in science and technology, proficient in infrastructure and rich in resources, were brought to their knees. The surge of disease and its havoc on mankind, proved that none of the power of knowledge, medical, and infrastructure advancements was sufficient and capable in saving the lives of lakhs of people infected with the COVID 19 virus.

This global pandemic, moved borders, and countries, regions and neighbourhoods and took lives of our near and dear ones, young and old. Uncountable number of families have lost their only breadwinner, families are pushed back into poverty arising due to loss of jobs, increased debt for medical and livelihood emergencies. In the last over a decade, India saw upward economic mobility across a wider segment of population both in rural and urban areas, which are now suddenly encountering economic hardships that arose due to the COVID 19 induced challenging times. The families who were living happily with aspirations for a bright future are suddenly finding themselves completely helpless and clueless of their future. They were unprepared for such uncertainties, and had limited resources and savings to fall back upon. These newly educated, aspirational new India arising from their difficult upbringings are being pulled back into a life of debt, unemployment and hunger. While the Government and non-government organisations are teaming up to support them, and are rallying behind their cause, yet all this is insufficient though commendable. Much help is still needed, and organized to have a meaningful impact on these lives.

5) Assist in realising their rightful claims/ funds from Banks / various authorities/ insurance companies etc.
6) Educating the families and communities about various applicable governmental schemes for welfare of such families and helping them in getting registered for the same
7) General counselling
8) Any other support needed on case to case basis

To begin with, the families will be identified in a radius of 100 km from Delhi preferably those who are not provided any support by any NGO or not eligible/not able to get any Governmental support.

These neighbourhoods / localities / families will be identified through the network and friends of SAVRAM Foundation beginning from 1st June 2021.

SAVRAM Foundation intends to continue this initiative over a period of at least 1 year to ensure that the families and individuals who do receive the support will have a fair amount of time to re- establish their economic situation to an extent. SAVRAM will document the trajectory of these families to prepare case stories that inspire others to help and see how their contributions for the needy in these times can make all the difference in the lives impacted.

While the vagaries of the pandemic will pass over time, the lives of the people impacted will never be forgotten. The pain, grief, and loss will always remain. All support at this time to help them to fight these challenging times and build resilience to recreate their future.
